I’ve been sent numerous iPad cases over the years, and whilst some have been relegated to the car boot pile almost immediately, others, like Otterbox’s Defender have been in constant use.
When I initially assembled it, my first thought was that it’s quite a hefty and bulky piece of equipment, but then I thought that’s exactly what I want from a protective case!
It’s built with a rugged and grippy silicone outer layer that wraps around the polycarbonate inner which has foam inserts for extra defense against drops and shocks. Then there’s the clear screen cover and the additional clip-on screen protector that fits on both the front and back of the case when needed. The protector also acts as a stand that offers viewing in portrait or landscape mode and lets you type at a natural angle.
Silicone port covers keep dust and debris out of the main openings and the screen cover is sensitive and works well. With four protective layers, the Defender does bulk up the iPad, but with its rubber surround and multi use stand it gives me confidence that if and when I drop it, my iPad will be protected.
It has done a stirling job in the last 3 years, absolutely nothing has broken, torn or fallen off, so credit where credit’s due, the Otterbox Defender does what it says on the box!
